Maslow CNC Z-Axis Upgrade

The original design of the Maslow CNC relied the router's own height adjustment to move the router along the Z-axis. The whole setup was inaccurate and unreliable. See my Pentaflake Tabletop series for some of my problems with the Maslow Z-axis.

Someone on the Maslow forums with the same struggles, posted these Z-axis upgrade plans, and I figured that I had to try it because Z-axis control was becoming a barrier to progress and costing a lot of money in materials. This was the one big upgrade that I made to my Maslow, and it really helped make it a more usable machine.

The latest version of the Maslow (Maslow 4) is out, and it looks like it comes with its own Z-axis mechanism, and lots of other upgrades from the original kit. I don't have one, but based on my experience with the original Maslow, I can say that it is a worthwhile purchase if you are interested in CNC, want to work on large formats (full size plywood sheets) and can't afford a regular gantry style large format CNC, and are comfortable with opensource projects.
